Clippings relating to Adams' career as deputy marshal and in administrative and special agent positions with the Departments of the Interior and the Treasury, and as a member of various fraternal organizations. The cases he investigated included pension frauds, smuggling, and timber frauds in Louisiana. There are also poems; copies of letters discussing a tour of Britain and Europe in 1875 and commenting on labor reform in England, politics in Virginia and Kentucky, the Ku Klux Klan, and anti-Catholic sentiment; and a volume of pen and ink drawings.
